My Hobbies

In April of 2011 we were on our way back to New Hampshire after spending the winter in South Texas and then attending an FMCA rally in Georgia. Well, it was still too cold to start the trip north so we stayed around Tennessee for a few weeks, first in the Pigeon Forge area, then Knoxville, then Nashville.

I've always wanted to play the fiddle and when you're in Tennessee, surrounded by great Bluegrass music, you start to think you can do anything. So... I bought myself a fiddle and a 'teach-yourself-to-fiddle' DVD. I spent a couple of weeks sawing away and finally got so I could play Mary Had a Little Lamb.  When we got back to New Hampshire, I found a great fiddle teacher and began lessons.  The first thing I discovered is that the fiddle is a tough instrument to learn!! I have no prior music experience, don't read music, and don't have a 'trained ear.'  But I'm enjoying the experience and I'm glad I had the courage to start something this tough, even at my 'advanced age.'

Another hobby is knitting.  Here's a baby sweater I made for a friend's little girl.
